What we want every client to know in 2026
I love my job. I really do! I love helping people with their insurance. This might sound cheesy, but it makes me feel so good when I am helping people. I have seen first hand how important insurance is to families, businesses and individuals. When something unfortunate happens, instead of that event being financially devastating and ruining, insurance is there to save the day and to put everything back together.
We take insurance very serious and we are so grateful that our clients allow us to be their insurance agency.
At Ullrich Insurance, I truly feel that:
-We have the best clients in the world. You are a part of an amazing group of people. We are grateful for you!
-We have the best team in the world. We are very picky as to who we hire, and we have some amazing team members who really care about our clients. Having the heart to care makes all the difference.
-We have the best product. We are not stuck with one insurance company like many agents. We represent MANY insurance companies. This is a big deal!
As we have seen crazy things happen to people, and crazy things happen in the insurance industry, we have came up with this list of thing that we want every client to know in 2026.
General information:
You need to be smart when you decide when to file an insurance claim or not
When something happens, it is your choice if you want to file an insurance claim or not. It is your insurance policy and it is your decision. That said, we understand how insurance works and we can give you guidance and advice. When a home or auto insurance claim is filed, then that insurance claim will typically make your insurance premiums go up for the next five years. (There are certain types of claims, like roadside assistance, that are the exception).
Let’s say that something very small happens at your home. Let’s say that you file a claim and after your deductible, you only get a tiny amount of money from the insurance company. This small insurance claim, if it makes your premiums go up for five years, will actually lose money for you.
Long story short, before you file a claim, we recommend that you call our office for guidance. We are happy to do it! If you need guidance at midnight or on a holiday or weekend, call my cell phone anytime!
This advice, right here, could possibly save you A LOT of money over time.
What do I do when I need to make a change on an insurance policy or if I have a question:
We have a customer service team at Ullrich Insurance that is here to serve you. If you go onto the “Meet the Team” page on our website, you will see a picture of everyone on the team. We are blessed to have some amazing team members….and we are here to serve YOU!

The important of liability coverage and umbrella policies
Most people have no idea what an umbrella insurance policy. Those people who think that they know what an umbrella policy is usually don’t understand it correctly.
In the world today, if someone is injured and if they blame you, then you can be responsible to pay A LOT of money. People are very sue happy these days. Also, the cost of medical care is skyrocketing.
If you are ever responsible for injuring someone, you want as much liability coverage as possible. If the liability coverage on a home or auto insurance policy get maxed out, then an umbrella policy will step up and pay liability coverage up to the limit on the policy.
If you have anything to lose, or any assets to protect, we recommend an umbrella policy. Let us konw if you have any questions about this.
E-Bikes are complicated:
The world is changing! E-Bikes are now extremely popular. Homeowners insurance companies cover regular bikes but there are major coverage limitations for E-Bikes, because E-Bikes have motors. There is a chance that your homeowners insurance policy might not cover E-bikes, or any injuries caused by E-bikes.
If your E-bike motor is a certain size, and of the bike can go a certain speed, then you would need a seperate insurance policy if you want the e-bike and the injuries of others to be covered.
Every insurance company is so different with this. Just let us know if you have any e-bikes and we can talk about it.
Homeowners Insurance
Personal Property Limits, Look at your policy!
A homeowners insurance policy has specific limits for certain categories of personal property. Your “Personal Property” limit might be a couple hundred thousand dollars, but certain types of property have specific limits. The most common categories of property that have specific coverage limits are: art, jewelry, firearms, tools.
Make sure that you read your homeowners insurance policy to see the categories and limits. If you need coverage for any specific category, please let us know.
Auto Insurance
Other people living in your home might not be covered by your auto insurance
Auto insurance companies are updating their guidelines. Let’s say that you let someone drive your car, then that person causes an insurance claim. If that person lives with you BUT is not listed as a driver on the auto insurance policy, the insurance company might say that they are not covered at all. This is a big deal! I someone lives with you, if you want your auto insurance policy to cover them, they must be added as a driver on your policy.
-When you have a child who gets their driving permit, they need to be added onto the auto insurance policy. (They will not make your rates increase until they have their license, though)
Do you use your vehicle for delivery, Doordash, Uber or anything like this? Let us know right away
If you use your vehicle to be a delivery driver or drive for Uber, Lyft, Uber Eats, or anything like this, then you need to let us know ASAP. We would need to add some special coverages onto your policy. If you don’t let us know, and if we don’t add these special coverages, then you might have some serious coverage gaps.
Life Insurance
I don’t like to think about this and I hardly want to mention it, but people really do unexpectedly pass away. Having or not having life insurance can have a huge impact on the family that relied on that person.
If you only have life insurance through your work, then we recommend that you also get a life insurance policy outside of work. Many times, those life insurance policies that are through work are not there for a person at the time that they pass away, so it is always best to have a policy outside of work.
The price for everything around us is going up….but the price for term life insurance is VERY GOOD right now! Please let me know if you either don’t have life insurance now or if you only have a life insurance policy through work.
