Safeco is changing to Liberty Mutual. What you need to know if you have a Safeco policy

You have probably heard that the name “Safeco” is going to go away. It is going to be replaced by the name “Liberty Mutual.”

You might be confused. I want to clear things up for you.

If you have a Safeco policy, this will not impact you negatively in any way. It actually will not impact you positively either. It is only a name change. That’s it. Nothing else is changing.

This will not change your insurance policy, or your coverages, or your pricing, or your discounts….or anything on the insurance policy OTHER THAN the name on the top of the policy. It will say Liberty Mutual on the top of the insurance policy, that’s it.

These four things will change:
1) On the top of the insurance policy documents, instead of the name “Safeco” it will say “Liberty Mutual.”
2) When you make a payment for your insurance, your bank statement will say that the payment went to “Liberty Mutual” instead of “Safeco.”
3) If you use the Safeco website to view your policy, you will be automatically redirected to the Liberty Mutual website. Your login information will stay the same.
4) If you use the Safeco app, it will eventually stop working and you will eventually, at that time, need to download the Liberty Mutual app.

You don’t need to do anything.

Safeco and Liberty Mutual will send you emails or post cards or letters that will tell you about the details of what is happening. Just read those when you receive them.
