Foremost “Actual Cash Value” roof coverage for roofs over 15 years old
Foremost has a rule that says that if they insure a home, when the roof becomes 15 years old, if the roof is damaged by windstorm or hail, the roof is covered under “Actual Cash Value.”
This means that if there is a wind or hail claim, the most that Foremost will pay is a percentage of the replacement cost of the roof surface that is damaged or destroyed. The percentage varies depending on the roof surface material type and the age of the roof. The older the roof, the more the roof has depreciated, so the less that Foremost will cover if there is a windstorm or hail claim.
Every insurance company has their own rules pertaining to these things. When a roof becomes a certain number of years old, it will impact the insurance policy in certain ways. For Foremost, their rule is that “when a roof becomes 15 years old, if the roof is damaged by windstorm or hail, the roof is covered under Actual Cash Value.”
