Auto insurance

Insurance companies are constantly changing their rules. Asking these questions to you now will help us better serve you and prevent problems when an insurance claim will arise.

You indicated that someone in your household does Uber, Lyft, Doordash, Turo or something like this. Who are they, what do they do and which car do they use? (We just want to make sure that your auto insurance policy is set up correctly so that you can be properly covered)

Which vehicle has "custom equipment" greater than $1,000? What custom equipment does it have and what is the value?

You indicated that a person lives at your home who does not have a drivers license who is not listed as a driver on your auto insurance policy. There are restrictions with auto insurance companies, so we want to make sure that you are properly insured. 1) Who is this person and how are they related to you? 2) Do they have their own auto insurance policy? 3) Could they or do they ever possbily drive your vehicles?

Which vehicles are titled in a name other than your personal name, and which names or business names are they titled under?

Drivers, vehicles and coverages: Please look at your auto insurance policy to make sure that the correct vehicles and drivers are on there. Also, look at the coverages and let us know if you have any questions at all. Do you have the coverages that you want? Do you have the limits that you want? Do you need advice? Let us know!

Homeowners insurance

Swimming Pool: Does your pool have a fence around it that can lock? Do you have a diving board? Do you ever rent your pool to others?

Animals: What are all the animals that you have on your property (what are they and how many?). Do you earn money from your animals in any way?

Solar Panels: Do you own or lease your solar panels? If you lease them, then the solar company is in charge of covering them if they get damaged (it would be a good idea for you to confirm this with them). If you own them, where are they located on your property and what are they worth?

Business on the property: What is the business that you have? How many people come onto your property each month? Do you have employees who come on to the property? What do people do when they come onto your property for the business?

Detached structures: 1) How many detached structures are on the property? 2) What is the value of each of them?

Important note about detached structures: If you have any old or damaged structures on your property, the insurance company cares about this. You might say that you don’t want it covered, but the insurance company will still have a problem if a detached building is in bad condition. If we move you to a new insurance company, they will look at the detached buildings and insurance companies are getting very picky these days.

Sometimes, we will have a client who will replace their roof without telling us. The year of the roof has a big impact on homeowners insurance, so we like to ask this question often.

Are your asphalt shingles rated "Class 4 Hail Resistant?"

Have you recently added square footage to your home or upgraded a kitchen or bathroom? If yes, tell us about it.

Scheduled personal property: Homeowners insurance has coverage limits for certain types of personal property. Certain categories include jewelry, firearms, collections, collectibles, tools, etc. Do you have any high value items that might exceed $1,500 in value? If yes, tell us what it is and we will make sure that it is properly insured.
